GameChapters is a non-commercial game journal. Your save files are yours. We keep as little as we can, we sell nothing, and there are no ads or trackers on this site.
What we keep
- Your account: the name you give, your player name, an optional bio, and your password, stored scrambled (hashed) so nobody can read it, including us. We do not ask for an email address.
- Your game journal: the games in your library, your backlog and what you are playing, and your save files (stats, scores, hours, notes and the other things you fill in).
- Sign-in attempts: to keep strangers out we count tries per player name for ten minutes.
Who can see your library
Unless you choose otherwise, other players who are signed in can find you by your name or player name and read your save files. People without an account see nothing of yours. To keep everything to yourself, tick "Keep my library private" under Edit profile.
Cookies
We use one cookie. It keeps you signed in for up to 60 days and disappears when you sign out. We use no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
Others involved
- Hostinger hosts the site and the database, and keeps standard server logs.
- Steam provides game details and art. Our server asks Steam for them and keeps a copy, so Steam never sees you or what you wrote.
We share your information with nobody else.
Because there is no email
We cannot send you a reset link. If you forget your password, write to the address below and we will sort it out by hand.
Delete it
Under Edit profile, "Close my account" removes your account, your library and every save file straight away.
